Then...real life happened.
Since John has left it seems like it has been one thing after another. He has been gone since the end of June and I feel like I have had about zero time to myself. First thing was packing up our house in TX, jamming a 3 bedroom house worth of belongings into a 10x15 storage unit and driving across the country with an almost 2 year old, a 2 month old and 2 cats. It took 3 days, 2 nights to get here and about 5 weeks to recover fully from that journey. It's been 2 months since we pulled into the driveway and I still cannot get "Let It Go" out of my head. Secretly, I am still holding out hope that by next spring Texas will relocate its entire self to Indiana and leave me with a quick trip down the freeway instead of 1300 miles away.
Not long after my arrival I sat down at the computer to do grown up things and pay my bills. I logged onto our bank on a Friday afternoon to discover that our bank account was in the negative. Somewhere along the trip or possibly before someone used some sort of devious technology to swipe my debit card number, access my bank account and treat themselves to a few tanks of gas and whirlwind shopping spree at Walmart. Since it was so late in the evening they couldn't start the fraud process until AFTER everything had actually cleared from my account. For about 6 days my account was in the negative, and I finally got a new debit card sent to me.
Not long after that, we took a trip to the ER for myself. I had a gallbladder attack...again.
Not too long after that we took a trip the urgent care for Madeline for an unexplained 103 degree fever that took forever to go away. She then passed the sickness onto the baby, who passed it onto my dad, who passed it on back to me.
Madeline has had an interesting time adjusting to John being gone, it took some time to get used to a new house, new room, and dad being on the computer instead of here in person, but she has finally gotten used to it. The cats, on the other hand, will never get used to it. They have officially become basement sleepers at night due to my parents crazy dog. When they meet, it reminds me of Christmas Vacation where the dog chases the squirrel all over their house. It's like that, but with hissing and claws. I'm sure they will get used to each other by the time we are ready to leave. Well, Kojo probably won't get used to anything and will try her best to claw the dogs eyes out on our way through the door.
So here's to our hopefully exciting adventure in Michigan, where we'll be counting down the days until we're back in Texas, get our husband and dad back, and hiding for 4 months from all the snow.
